Bristol Beacon x Prevail Festival
In Autumn 2020 Julia Roderick and Bristol Music Trust approached me to help commission a collection of new work and content by students. This was to be a part of their multimillion pound renovation and rebranding of the region's largest concert hall, Bristol Beacon. This was a long established partnership between UWE Music Technology with annual teaching activitives in Live Sound happening in the halls atrium and Lantern venues as well as a range of innovation projects through the Impulse Studio. This project however allowed me to work upon many of the outcomes and observations from the Foundry and IOC projects, namely the need for broad contexts, authentic creative outcomes, and a range of support roles.
Presented across three levels, Prevail was a festival of new music, creative technologies and immersive performances. The event challenges and explores themes of identity, place and space in the city through innovative new ideas, art, and experiences.
Created and designed by breakthrough talent from across the University of the West of England, the work has been supported by artists from across the city including Roxanna Vilk (Vilk Collective), SquidSoup, Duncan Speakman, Jasmine Thompson and Fiona Rourke.
